What to do with the garbage?
That's the first question that everyone asks when they contemplate giving up plastic bags.
And it's a really tough one with no clear answer, but here are some simple tips.

Firstly, reduce your garbage
• Recycle as much of your garbage as you possibly can (go here for more info).
• Compost as much of your garbage as you possibly can. A compost can reduce the amount of waste in your rubbish bin by 50%.
• Minimise packaging - choose products which don't produce much garbage.

Then, to get rid of your garbage...
• Use newspaper to wrap up your garbage before you transfer it to the outside bin for collection.
• Don't line the bin at all and wash it out after it has been emptied.
• Or if you have to, occasionally use a plastic bag, preferably one that is biodegradable. This is not the ideal solution, but the most practical!
